Celebrity: Padmajaa el
Who
is padmajaa el?
A kuchipudi trained,
dancer, a management graduate and a Montessori trained teacher and a mother of
two, who is just very passionate about acting. having been married to an officer in the Indian Navy, I am very social
and loves to host and attend parties occasionally.
First Take?
Acting in the movies was never my dream. A friend from the film industry saw my pictures on a social networking site and asked me if I am interested in acting. My instantaneous reaction was a big NO. But the bug bit me and very soon I was in a look out for opportunities. Zanjeer was my third film, they saw my photos on the social networking site and confirmed my role and I landed on the sets without any audition. Sharing the sets with Priyanka Chopra and Ram Charan Tej as a new comer was an enthralling experience. And there after, in a span of a year and a half , I was roped in 9 films, including an international film titled “Darkness Of The Night “.
How was your Journey?
It was completely an
alien world to me. But I was confident, Having spent most of my life out side
AP, I did not even know many name in the film industry. Few friend who are
from the industry used to wonder how I will go ahead with limited knowledge. But
I always believed in one thing that, acting has nothing to do with knowing
people and as the time passes I will get accustomed to the new environment too.
The first thing that I did was to subscribe for a Telugu news paper. because once
it so happened that I was given some dialogues written in telugu to read and it
took me quite some time. so, I made an effort to read telugu on a daily basis.
it helped me to increase my knowledge about telugu film industry and enhance
telugu reading skills too. To enhance my acting skill I did a course in acting
too.
And coming to the
people in the industry, It took me quite a while to understand their basic
nature. I don’t have any Godfather here, but most of the people have been
very helpful and today I am proud to have made many good friends who guide me
and support me.
What how did all this begin?
after Chemistry, I did
8 films and all of the offers were through the social networking sites only. I
am grateful to all those people who had faith in me and offered roles.
I am highly passionate
about acting and would like to continue this way and want to do more and more
significant roles and make a mark for myself.
Acting is acting, be it
a feature film, short film or a parallel film. I have also acted in a parallel
movie called ‘Athreya’. Which is going t hit screens in June. I played a very satisfying
role of a principal in that film. It’s a beautiful story woven around kids of
today with a great message. Not thinking of production or direction because I
have a long way to go.
Would you do any leads, if offered?
With your reason please, I fall into the category of character artists . If there is any lead role that suits my age I am open to it.
Character Artist |
What role you wanna play? or who do you want to work with?
No dream role
particularly. And as an actor I would love to work with all the stalwarts and , yes. looking forward to it. Presently I
am acting in Yamaleela 2. It’s like a dream come true for me to act in the
direction of Mr.SV Krishna Reddy gaaru. He is one of my most favorite
directors.
