Kunal Kaushik's Exclusive Interview

Interview – Via: Team BUPWS
Celebrity: Kunal Kaushik K.

Who Is Kunal Kaushik?

I am an Engineer by qualification and Actor by choice. I have completed 6 years of journey in this industry just yesterday. With two feature films and two short films in Telugu. I was bitten by the acting bug while I was in my schooling. I always wanted to join FTI, Pune as soon as I could but that never happened. My parents wanted to see me as an engineer (like most of the others). I gave them what they wanted and now I am chasing what I want in life. In the beginning they thought I was fooling around when I spoke about being an actor but now they are taking me serious. They now comprehend, I was talking the TRUTH.

First Take:
This is one real HARSH field. It has taken a huge amount of physical, mental and psychological strength to just to keep the dream ALIVE. The FIGHT is still ON. I remember, I was working with Keane India (now it’s called NTT Data) as a HR executive and that was my first job, there one of my friends’ was niece to my debut film (Lifestyle) director Mr. Shiva Muppalaneni. He was on a look out for new faces for his movie then. She played a pivotal role in introducing me to him and then a series of auditions and photo shoots happened. I was actually auditioned for a 15 min role....the director was so very impressed with me that he offered me to play one of the 3 Heroes in the film. I felt I was dreaming. It took me a long time for the fact to sink in.

Tell Us about Working Before and after “A Silent melody”:

I have completed shooting for 2nd feature film called "USKO" way before "A Silent Melody" happened. But like a lot of other small budget films, this one is struggling for a proper release. I am sure it should be out soon. In the mean while I have done one Hindi short film which has been made for the national and international film festivals. And there is one add film I did for Deccan Foods-Arizona (USA). I want to focus completely on Feature films and may be bit of Add films from now on. Not really keen about short films (unless there is something strikingly different and challenging in it to offer).

What Interests You?

There is only one interest I have always had."Acting" never did the bi-products like stardom really attract me (I am sure you would feel I am sounding hypocritical but that’s TRUE).
I don’t want to do a similar role in no two films of mine. I like people to be awestruck looking at my look or performance in each and every film (that’s what I try doing on Facebook now with my pictures). That’s my only motto, yes I want to do all kinds of roles and cater to all kinds of audience too at the same time...I strongly feel a film or a performance that people can not relate with and doesn’t strike a chord in them will not only fail commercially but the very purpose of making it is lost. I want all my films to have that balance (Scope for good performance yet commercially successful).

About the Look:

as I already said, I like to thrill people with something new. I grew the beard out of laziness, and suddenly this thought struck me I called my friend Sree Raghu Ram, who is a photography enthusiast, and this happened. I would not be replacing Hugh Jackman in the next part of X-Men as for now. Ha ha ha…

Would you do if you are offered any such film?
I would JUMP on such an offer and hold it real tight, if someone makes it to me.

Word of advice:

First of all I feel I have not reached that stage where in I can suggest anyone. Just that I have been in here for some time I can give out a friendly advice may be. There is an English movie called ROCKY (6 part series). I am totally inspired by that film. There is one quote in that film that I keep reminding myself each time I feel I am loosing out

"It ain’t about how hard you hit, It’s about how hard you can get hit. how much you can take and keep moving forward, that’s how WINNING is done”.

This is one real TOUGH place to be in. FOCUS on your skill. go with YOUR intuitions. be UNIQUE. Success or Failure never let it get on to your head. All The Best.
